Jamalpur Islampur upazila from the Brahmaputra river. The body of a Dhaka University student named Siam (22) has been recovered. Police with the help of locals recovered the body from the piling ghat area of the river around 10pm on Thursday.
Siam Islampur Government Nekjahan Pilot Model High School is the son of former headmaster Umar Ali. His home is in Charcharia village of Palbanda union of the upazila. He was a first year student of Public Administration Department of Dhaka University.
Police and local sources said Siam had been at home for a long time as the university was closed due to Corona. Went out for a walk on Thursday afternoon with friends yesterday. In the early hours of the evening, the martyred Major General Khaled Mosharraf of Piling Ghat area of Islampur municipal town went down to bathe in the Brahmaputra river near the bridge. He went missing after drowning. Upon receiving the news, the police with the help of local people started trying to rescue him from the river. After a long struggle, his body was recovered from the river at around 10 pm.
Jamalpur Assistant Superintendent of Police (Islampur Circle) said. Sumon Mia said Siam went to tour the bridge area with friends. Later in the evening, he went down to bathe in the river. Then drown in the river. After getting the news through the local people, the police went there. His body was later recovered from the river with the help of locals.
